Why We Built NextPour

Our team has spent more than a decade running home-service and contracting businesses.

If you can think of a way to generate leads, we’ve probably tried it. Agencies, pay-per-lead, Google, Facebook, all of it. And over the years, we’ve gotten it pretty dialed in.

But not every contractor has the time, interest, or resources to build an in-house marketing team. So most end up with one of two options: pay an agency thousands a month and hope they know what they’re doing, or buy leads from a giant corporation.

Either option can leave a lot to be desired.

NextPour is our attempt to build the kind of lead company we would actually want to buy leads from ourselves.

We’re here to make money. So are you. We just think there’s room to build something that works for both sides.

And when we built NextPour, we wanted to focus on one industry instead of trying to make one generic system work for every kind of service business.

We already had a lot of experience marketing for concrete, we knew the industry, we liked the industry, and it fit the kind of lead model we wanted to build.

So that’s what we did.

Built Around the Way Contractors Actually Work

Your need for leads changes. You add a crew, open up a new territory, or hit a slower stretch and you might need more leads right now. A month later, you might be booked out and need to pull things back.

We don’t think you should have to renegotiate a contract every time that happens or wait months for somebody to “optimize” a campaign.

Turn your budget up when you want more. Pull it back when you need less. Change your territory or project preferences anytime. Pause when you’re full and turn it back on when you’re ready.

We also don’t think you should need a six- or twelve-month commitment or a big setup fee just to find out whether our leads work for your business.

You should stay because the leads make sense for your business, not because a contract or a bunch of money you already spent keeps you here.

And yes, our leads are shared. We made that decision on purpose. We cap them at three contractors total.

Could we sell the same lead to more companies and make more from it? Sure. That’s what a lot of the big pay-per-lead companies do. We could probably even charge each contractor a little less per lead and still make more.

But at some point, that just makes the lead worse for everybody buying it.

Three made sense to us. Homeowners have been told to get three quotes forever anyway. Instead of charging one contractor full price for an “exclusive” lead only to have the homeowner call two more companies anyway, we’d rather keep the cost reasonable and limit how far we share it.

But none of that matters if the leads themselves are junk.

What Makes a “Quality” Lead

Anybody can make a form easier to fill out and generate more leads. Ask for a name, phone number, and email and you’ll get more submissions.

We’d rather know what the person actually wants.

That means asking a few more questions about the project before we call it a lead. What kind of work is it? Where is it? How big is it? When are they looking to get started?

Yeah, that means some people won’t finish the form. We’re okay with that.

Because a real homeowner still isn’t necessarily a good lead for you.

A perfectly legitimate stamped concrete lead is worthless if you don’t do stamped concrete. The same goes for a repair lead when you only want new flatwork, or a project 40 miles outside the area you actually serve.

That’s one of the biggest differences with NextPour. With traditional marketing, some of your budget is inevitably going to generate inquiries for work you don’t want. With us, your budget goes toward the service areas, project types, and preferences you selected.

That’s what we mean by lead quality. A real person. A real project. The kind of work you actually told us you want.

That said, you still need to be realistic. That does not mean you’re going to close every lead.

Some homeowners won’t answer. Some will get three estimates. Some will think you’re too expensive. Some will put the project off. Some won’t hire anybody.

That’s just part of doing business.

What you should have is a real shot at a real project that fits the kind of work you asked us to send you.

And sometimes junk is still going to slip through. We’re not going to pretend our filters are perfect 100% of the time.

Fake number. Duplicate lead. Wrong territory. Wrong service. Fraud.

Mark it invalid. We’ll review it. If it qualifies, we’ll credit it. No jumping through hoops.

You’re busy enough without having to fight us over something that’s obviously junk.

The Bottom Line

We’re trying to be the kind of lead company we’d want to buy from ourselves.

Straightforward pricing. No long-term commitment. Control over what you receive. Fair treatment when something goes wrong.

And we don’t think you should just have to take our word for it.

Start small. See whether the leads make sense for your business. If they do, keep going. If they don’t, you’re free to walk away.
